Hi, I’m Emily!
About me
I have been a proud resident of Grand Forks for almost 15 years, and I graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Entrepreneurship. I grew up in Lakeville, MN, where my family instilled the values of hard work, grit, and integrity. Those lessons proved invaluable as I will always do my best to finish the job and 'leave it better than I found it.'
In 2016, I was elected to represent District 42, part of the Grand Forks community, in the Legislature. Since then, I have been a bipartisan advocate for continuing to work toward solutions rather than seeking only party endorsements.
Professionally, I serve as the Chief Operating Officer for the Bioscience Association of North Dakota. I have always had an itch for creating an entrepreneurial culture! I will always be passionate about fostering economic opportunities, nurturing growth, and championing expanding the boundaries of opportunities in North Dakota.
My most rewarding job is being a mother! As you age, you have a different perspective on the importance of family. Family is everything to me, and I am committed to ensuring our children have the best opportunities for success. The future of our communities lies in their hands.
community Leadership Experience
I have the privilege to be a part of a few different teams in our Grand Forks Community. Being actively involved in our community is essential to me! I serve on the Board of Directors for The Chamber - Grand Forks/East Grand Forks, North Dakota's Women's Business Center, and the L.I.S.T.E.N. Center. Additionally, I serve as a Commissioner for the Grand Forks Human Service Zone. My service and involvement on these boards allow me to bring my skills to the table while fostering an environment to learn more about these organizations' vital roles in our community.
Legislative leadership experience
I have proudly served in the North Dakota House of Representatives since I was elected in November 2016 and took the Oath of Office in December 2016. I served on the Industry Business & Labor Committee and Transportation Committee in my first session. You could find me diligently typing away, taking notes on all our bills in front of our committees.
In the past, leadership has appointed me to serve on several other interim and special session committees, including Commerce, Acute Psychiatry, and Joint Technical Corrections.
Below, you can find a list of the committees I currently serve on:
